Questions before accepting an interpreting project

May 27, 2023 / 12:00 pm - 12:45 pm EDT

Ensure a smooth communication with the client before the event and let them help you sound your best in the languages of your audience!

Well begun is half done as the saying goes. And what better way to begin an interpreting project than to be well-informed about the project parameters and what’s expected of you? This is important before starting any project but even more so with the recent developments in the field of interpreting due to the rise of remote interpreting and hybrid meetings.

Based on her own experience, the presenter will lay out a series of questions to ask your clients in order to make sure you can offer them the best possible service, protect your rights and uphold the standards of our profession.

You will learn how to:

  1. Understand the impact of remote and hybrid meetings on the interpreter’s work conditions
  2. Create a reference list of questions to use for interpreting projects
  3. Discover useful resources to support the interpreter’s discussion with the client
