She is an ATA-certified Portuguese to English and Spanish to English translator and the chair of ATA’s Business Practices Education Committee. Sarah Symons Glegorio

Sarah Symons Glegorio is a Spanish and Portuguese to English translator focusing on business, financial and legal texts. She is ATA-certified for Spanish into English and currently serves as Treasurer of the Oregon Society of Translators and Interpreters (OSTI). She has been translating full-time since 2015 and part-time since 2005. Prior to going full-time freelance, she worked as a bilingual loan officer, taught English as a foreign language, and helped start a real estate agency.

Kelly Burt is a California-based Swedish and German to English translator who also specializes in localizing English-language content from other variants into Australian English. She started translating full-time after graduating from UNSW in Sydney with a double MA in interpreting and translation and applied linguistics. She is ATA-certified in Swedish to English translation and currently serves as the Nordic Division’s Assistant Administrator. Her primary working areas are film and TV, food and culinary texts, and travel and tourism.

Michael Engley

Michael Engley is the owner of Bullish Translations based in Port Charlotte, Florida, and has been translating full-time since 2006. He previously served as administrator and assistant administrator of the German Language Division as well as the Dictionary Review Coordinator for the GLD’s newsletter interaktiv. He is an ATA-certified German to English translator specializing in corporate communications and financial translation.

Lucía Hernandez

Lucía Hernandez is a freelance Spanish-to-English marketing and audiovisual translator and interpreter based in Toronto, Canada. She works with brands and film and TV producers to adapt communications and content for North American audiences, as well as interpreting at the Toronto International Film Festival and Hotdocs International Documentary Film Festival. She has completed MA degrees in Translation Studies (Glendon College) and Spanish Literature (Queen’s University) and is certified by the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario (Canada). She also serves on the ATA Audiovisual Division Leadership Council.

Jason Knapp

Jason Knapp

Business Practices Education Committee Member

Jason Knapp is a freelance conference, court, and medical interpreter and translator for Spanish based in the Louisville Metro area. He is certified through the NCSC and NBCMI, and recently obtained a graduate certificate in conference interpreting from the Universidad del Salvador. He is an active member of ATA, NAJIT, IAPTI, and other professional associations. In his free time, he enjoys running, playing the electric bass guitar, and the heady aroma of freshly made espresso.

Paul Merriam

Paul Merriam is an ATA-certified Russian to English translator. After spending 20 years in the US Army, he spent ten years as a project manager at an agency with a Department of Justice contract. He now works as a freelance translator from Russian, German, Polish and Spanish into English.
